Safety Engineer

About the job

The essential goal of our Corporate HSE is to strategically provide advice and sustainable implementation in the direction and technical support of Health, Safety & Environment. Administer and practice Corporate Social Responsibility for our Borouge Production and Marketing businesses.

Reporting to the Safety Team Leader, you will be part of Corporate HSE team and you will be responsible for:

• Supporting Line Personnel to further enhance their HSE knowledge and understanding attained through Company HSE Training Programs.
• Providing the link between respective operational unit and Environment Engineer and Industrial Hygienist.
• Participating in Line meetings and forums as necessary, encouraging personnel to adopt a risk based approach to their daily activities and mitigation practices.
• Supporting the delivery of HSE training sessions, particularly the practical aspects, providing encouragement to Line Personnel to take part, and further enhance their HSE knowledge and understanding attained through continual knowledge transfer.
• Ensuring effective networking with Borouge Safety Engineer community to ensure consistent application of HSE programs across the Ruwais Complex.
• Performing audits and inspections in accordance with the program ensuring line involvement, effective implementation and communication of outcomes, that drives continuous HSE improvement.
• Exhibiting exemplary commitment to the HSE observation program encouraging Line involvement, coaching and supporting personnel to improve their technique and commitment.
• Encouraging Line Personnel to utilize HSE Tools, such as Incident Reporting, TRA etc. coaching them to continually improve the quality of the application.
• Providing support and guidance to assess the severity of specific and system causes.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering preferably in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical & Industrial or equivalent.
• Internationally recognized Health and Safety qualification preferred.
• Minimum 5 years experience in a Health and Safety position, preferably in the oil / gas and petrochemical industries.
• Excellent Coaching Skills, with good ability to work effectively with other people and teams.
• Computer software user's knowledge and experience.
• Excellent communication skills and proficiency in English.
