Material Team Leader

Basic Function:

Leads a team of Material Engineers, Inventory controllers, WHSE supervisor & technicians to provide general Material services on site and to oversee activities of Inventory Controlling, Material management Engineering, & Warehousing for the Plant Availability unit. Acts as the focal point among the operation units (PA, PO, EU, PH, & HSE) and the procurement unit within Borouge. Responsible for implementing the Company Material management policies & practices, and warehousing activities to ensure material availability for maintenance & production purposes.

Main Work Performed and Responsibilities:

• Leads a team of Material Engineers, Inventory controllers, WHSE supervisor & technicians to provide Material services on the site. Performs supervisory functions at the level established by management for the position.
• Coordinates with users, warehouse and Inventory Control personnel to ensure that site materials are adequately stocked, that materials reservations are segregated, tagged and preserved as required and that materials requirements are promptly furnished through inter-store materials transfer operation.  Provides materials transfers authorization to subordinates as needed.
• Takes the responsibility for the availability of spare parts and other materials when required to reduce or prevent the downtime of plant equipment.
• Acts as the focal point with the procurement unit to expedite material requirements.
• Leads the team that analyzes the material usage and adjusts the re-order level, maximum level, Carryout the ABC analysis and give recommendation accordingly. Check slow moving items and co-ordinates with end users for possible obsolesce or surplus. Leads a team for internal auditing of the stock holdings. Up-dating Lead-time, and PR Generation & release in SAP
• Recommends warehousing plans, programs, policies and standards to cover and ensure efficient storage facilities, materials rearrangement and stocking, materials handling requirements, etc.  Reviews and amends policies and work programs continuously as required and ensures proper implementation.
• Supervises and controls the receipt, identification, inspection, storage and handling of equipment, materials and spare parts; finalizes reports on status of materials received, payment approval, etc. and dispatches to concerned department; and ensures that movement details of materials are correctly recorded and updated to reflect all materials receiving/issuing transactions.
• Collaborate with the Procurement unit to develop and implement strategies and policies for optimizing the inventory of spares and materials and oversee the day-to-day operations of the warehouse to ensure these are carried out efficiently and securely.
• Provides monthly, yearly and ad hoc statistical and information reports on material consumption’s, inter-store transfer, issue/receipt performance indices, etc. to keep management fully advised of trends and implications, recommending improvement as appropriate.
• Performs other similar or related duties, as assigned includes ensuring observance of all safety and fire rules and regulations by personnel working in the warehouse, ensuring the correct and safe use of warehouse equipment, preparing activity reports, attending meetings etc.
• Contribute to recruitment, motivate and develop the staff in the Team to ensure development of the necessary skills base and that all staff are enabled to reach their highest potential maximize their contribution to the business.
• Participates in the development of training programs for national employees undergoing on-the-job training. Provides training, guidance and counseling to trainees, developees and other subordinates with a clear objective of career development.
• Maintains all resources needed for Material and Warehouse handling and reviews their performance making annual appraisal.

Minimum Requirements

• B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering.
• 10 years experience in providing material management services in a hydrocarbon industry with maintenance background, preferably within a petrochemical plant.
• Good knowledge of English.
• Good knowledge of computer skills & common MS Office tools.
• Must be an expert on SAP MM Module.
